What is a good web-based personal financial management tool to manage net worth – stocks, 401k, checking, etc?

Steve asked:

I’m looking for a free or inexpensive personal financial management web site that I can trust to input my personal financial information, including allowing access to my checking accounts, CD, 401k, stocks, checking accounts, money market accounts, etc. It must be secure and update in near real-time as well as offer matrix, analytics, etc.

Morningstar.com has a good portfolio tracking tool. It won’t give you access to your bank accounts, however (nor would you want such a thing for security reasons).

There are many places that do it all.
    you might try FIDELITY, VANGUARD,
    AMERICAN CENTURY
    and CHARLES SCHWAB

    Hi Steve,

The major online services are Quicken and Mint.com. Mint is one of the more popular free web-based personal financial management system. In fact, it was just sold to Intuit (the owner of Quicken).

Mint is an innovative platform that can securely import all of your accounts into its site. The website explains how it works:

“Mint immediately pulls in your balances, purchases, stock trades, etc. to give you a complete picture of your finances. Mint connects securely with more than 7,000 US financial institutions, saving you hours of tedious data entry.

Mint updates all of your account information automatically. So you always have the most current information available. With Mint, you can focus on making smart decisions, not on managing and planning financial spreadsheets.”

Check out the website to read all about it. Hope this helps!
